Surry Hills – Hospitality Program
Bright focuses exclusively on training and providing pathways to meaningful employment in the hospitality industry for as many jobseekers as possible and with a particular focus on migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, also disadvantaged and marginalised communities in Sydney. Pre-employment training is carried out in working kitchen environments at the Wesley Mission’s Edward Eagar Lodge, Folonomo restaurant and Gratia Café in Surry Hills; and students graduate with a Certificate II in Hospitality. This pre-employment program runs for 6 weeks plus 1 week of work experience in Surry Hills. The job positions available include: Bartenders, kitchen hands, baristas, front of house, food prep cooks, apprentices etc. And we do work with a wide range of job Placement Partners (The Merivale Group, Four Points Hotel, Cafe Sydney, Burger Project, BIC, Solotel etc.). Intake is 12 students fortnightly. (Ages - 17-55)
Nirimba TAFE – Commercial Cleaning
Bright also provides training and placement of students into cleaning jobs. Candidates must undertake a 3 week training program at Nirimba TAFE, graduate and placed into cleaning jobs- Cert III Cleaning Operations. We partner with Spotless, Broad Spectrum, Haven cab and others. Intake is 20 students each month. (Ages - 17-55).
At Bright we believe that meaningful pathways to employment are created and sustained by connecting our graduates with socially like-minded hospitality and cleaning employers. We support this philosophy by providing a 6-12 month post job placement mentoring and support program, giving our students the best possible chance of success.
